Previous Roles and Responsibilities for Tex Hemke

 

Business Prime for a Large Business Unit

The Business Prime role ensures that the Business Unit (locations in AB, BC, ON & PQ) obtains the right tools to allow the staff to perform the duties and responsibilities to enable them to handle their customer needs.  The responsibilities include:

Ø      Managing the Budget needs for the Data and Voice requirements.

Ø      Performs an audit of all charges to the business unit for Data and Voice Services.

Ø      Reviews the Computer Systems that are to be replaced and ensures that the right tools are provided for the staff during the Tech. Rollovers (Replacement of computers every three years).

Ø      Performs the duties of a Consultant to Managers and staff to ensure that the best applications and software are acquired for the staff.

Ø      Consults with the company Technology Department and Manufacturers, determines the correct equipment and software to order, places the Data and Voice orders with the Technology Department and coordinates the provisioning of all systems.

Ø      Originates and coordinates all orders through the Technology Department for moves and changes for our staff.

Ø      Maintains accurate inventory records of all Data and Voice Systems.

 

Desktop and Application Support for the Business Unit

The Desktop and Application Support role provides ongoing day to day support to the staff of the Business Unit (locations in AB, BC, ON & PQ).   The responsibilities include:

Ø      First point of contact for any issues or problems with Data and Voice Systems (Computers, Applications, Telephone Services, Cellular Phones, Pagers, Etc.).

Ø      Generates trouble tickets with the Technology Department's Single Point Of Contact (SPOC) (handling AB, BC, ON & PQ) and coordinates all repairs which are not solved by myself.

Ø      Works with all support areas (Core Server Group, Tier II - Desktop Support,  Hardware Support, Mainframe Support, VAX Systems Support, Applications Support, Etc.) to ensure that our systems are delivering properly.

Ø      Obtains access to all National Systems for the End-Users.

Ø      Downloads and installs software for LAN Based shared software programs for National Systems.

Ø      Consults with the Technology Department and together provide improvements to our Systems to allow us to better serve the customers of the Business Unit.

Ø      Performs ongoing day to day training on the use of software and applications on a one on one basis as the need arises.

Ø      Administrator for Microsoft Exchange Functional Mailboxes and Distribution Lists.

 

Data Manager for the Business Unit

The primary role of the Data Manager is to oversee the management of business information for their designated Business Unit. These responsibilities include:

Ø      Ensuring their staff has appropriate system & LAN access. (Manager's Role)

Ø      Discussing filing structure and data management practices with your team. (Manager's Role)

Ø      Ensure employees exiting the organization remove their files from the LAN before they leave and delete their system ID's. It is very helpful to use the Asset Recovery Checklist when employees are exiting.  (Manager's Role)

Ø      Manage/police the data (this can vary dependant upon skill sets, interest, and need).  (Folder Owner Role)

Ø       Approves LAN access requests.

Ø       Creating and maintaining security assignments for all shared folders.

Ø       Reviewing the storage notifications and reports for the group data (shared drive) and take appropriate action.

Ø       Ensuring that ongoing data cleanup takes place for the business area.

Ø       Manage the area’s current and future data model. Approves creation of root level folders (i.e. root level folders are all the folders you first see when you first open your shared drive).

Ø       Future consolidation of AB, BC, ON and PQ data.

Ø       Works closely with the Technology Department to provide solutions to the Business Unit.

Ø       "Data cop" who notifies Users of unacceptable data practices and removes inappropriate files.

Ø       Interfacing with the Technology Department for future changes and policies.

 

Web Site Developer for the Business Unit

The primary role of the Web Site Developer is to provide the technical expertise and the maintenance of the Web Sites for the Business Unit. These responsibilities include:

Ø      Create and maintain the Web Sites (Internet and Intranet).

Ø      Convert content to HTML for posting on our Web Sites.

Ø      Provide the technical expertise to the content providers for Web Pages and site functionality (Electronic Forms, Secure Pages, Forms of Contact, etc.).
